Blombo Tales #51: Crossover |
May 23, 2007 Posted under Blombo Tales |

As you may have read in my previous entry my mind had been teasing at the idea of bringing an actual storyline into Blombo Tales. I had the ideas on how to begin this present themselves at weird times during my day and then develop themselves into something viable while I was in the shower (I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that there must be something in the water that artists, writers and miscellaneous creatives seem particularly sensitive to).
Now to celebrate that Blombo Tales has reached 50 comics (and I’ve only let it languish once ~ around comic #10) I am updating on both the usual Wednesday and now also Saturday! This happens around 5pm Australian EST which should make it Wed\Sat for most time zones (the wee small hours of the morning for the US).
The actual storyline will kick off at comic 60 since there are still randoms in the queue. So assuming my calculations are correct this will be the 11th of March. I should be able to keep up with the twice-weekly schedule when this happens and hope to discover that I can increase the schedule further.
Any thoughts\comments? Feel free to join me in the forums

Blombo Tales #50: Cruising |
Posted under Blombo Tales |

Hourly comic day was awesome and I am still yet to read them all. Personally I am not yet ready to abandon my own hourly comic so as I shall continue this for an entire year. I already have enough of the little blank cards I use for stealthily comicking in public. Oh, heaven help me.
Now with Blombo Tales I usually create a comic whenever I have a silly idea that seems viable, then I put it into a queue where my updates come from each Wednesday automatically.
By doing this I think I’m getting to the point where these are coming more frequently and if I were to fall off the face of the planet tomorrow you would not notice for about two and half months (I am currently 10 weeks ahead).
I have also got a couple of ideas for other things rolling around in my head that I should get out and I sporadically work on the scripts for these so I could potentially begin a graphic novel (also online) as well.
So now this presents a choice… I am willing to try to do something with these graphic novel ideas or I can work more on Blombo Tales. I’ve set up a poll for your input but you’ll need to take a moment to register on the forum to be able to vote.
If you opt for the Blombo Tales options please choose your favourite but the two are somewhat linked – if I go with the storyline then I will most likely begin to update more often and if you just want to see more of the usual comics then a storyline might be inevitable if I go through a non-silly spell and the queue dries up. If you are particularly fond of one of those ideas but not the other then please comment on the forum topic at the same time as voting.

Blombo Tales #49: Humour |
Posted under Blombo Tales |

Hello Internet!
Not long ago I added the forum and the ability to leave comments so that I can hear you. Now I’ve got my own voice in this little space here.
This will be appearing on both my comic sites – Blombo Tales and Gr’og.
Unless you happen to be reading this from Gr’og right now you might not realise that it is my hourly comic, which means that any time during every hour I have to create a new journal-style comic box about what I’m doing or what is happening around me. Then over the course of the next day you will see those appearing on the website.
Gr’og has been fun, and interesting to explain to people why I’ve suddenly pulled out a couple of pens and small pieces of cardboard during a lull in the conversation, as well as sometimes annoying when I almost forget to do it… speaking of which (excuse me)…
Anyway, I am trying to decide how long to continue that for. I originally discovered this idea through John Campbell’s Hourly Comic – now he does it all through January until Hourly Comic Day and then does the same thing the next year. This sounds sensible but then the part of me that likes to procrastinate proactively (working to avoid different work) thinks I should do this all year… and then stop. Forever. But maybe bring it back if I go on a holiday that might seem interesting in comic form.
Mind you on average I’ve been awake 18 hours each day since I’ve started – so that is 18 grogs a day. This would mean that after an entire year I’ll have made approximately 6624 grog boxes in total. How many trees die to make 6624 blank business-cards to draw on? Probably one, but I don’t think that is the point I was trying to make.
